Elan Valley
As seen on BBC Countryfile programme, the Elan Valley is known as the Lake District of Wales.
The Elan Valley offers a peaceful landscape of heather-covered hills mirrored in the still surface of inky reservoirs. In the winter the peace can be shattered by the water cascading over the impressive stone dams.
As well as the obvious many walks, there are other activities and cycling is especially well catered for - eg route 81 of the sustrans traffic free cycle network.
